Athletic Therapy is a Specialty Service & for billing purposes, this is not the same as a Physiotherapist. Check with your insurance before booking to see if Athletic Therapy is covered. If you do not have coverage & must pay out of pocket - we know you will not be disappointed with your choice to see an Athletic Therapist.

With Danielle you will experience caring, individualized treatment rooted in genuinely helping you feel better. Through assessment, health history, and goal setting, Danielle works with her massage clients on a treatment schedule to bring meaningful change in their pain experience. With a keen interest in health and fitness, she provides tailored exercises that help improve treatment efficacy and longevity.

Danielle is communicative and willing to work with you on your pressure and treatment style preferences. She mainly uses firm and specific pressure. But also enjoys using relaxation techniques to nourish the busy human nervous system, and make your massage a truly enjoyable experience.

Growing up in Red Deer, Danielle had a family background in medicine which instilled a keen interest in human anatomy, physiology, and the dysfunctions that will often occur over a lifetime. Also, as an athlete who enjoys practicing high-impact sports such as rugby and Muay Thai, she holds a deep understanding of pain, injury, and recovery has been through the process many times. With this in mind, Danielle began a post-secondary education at Alberta College of Massage Therapy & completed her 2200 hour diploma with honors and is excited to share her education with the community.

Megan enjoys treating all musculoskeletal injuries & has a passion for working with concussions. She is well-versed in getting clients back into the game in a wide variety of sports including football, hockey & lacrosse. She also loves using those same skills to work with the general public to make sure their day-to-day lives are the best they can be.

Megan grew up in Red Deer & played ringette for thirteen years. She has been involved in sports her whole life either playing, coaching, or training. After receiving a diploma in Kinesiology & Sport Studies Fitness & Health Promotion from RDC she completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology & is a Certified Athletic Therapist as of 2022. Megan is hoping the experiences she gains here at Collegiate will help her with her ultimate goal of one day being a therapist for a professional sports team or working at the Olympics.

She loves being active, hiking, camping, & skating in the winter; she spends most of her free time hanging out with friends & family

When you come for a treatment with Kara, you can expect patient-centred care. This means your massage and care plan will be created for you and your needs specifically through means of communication and assessment.

Through years of training, Kara has learned many ways to effectively apply her therapeutic and relaxation techniques. She believes massage should be an enjoyable experience that leaves you feeling better than you did when you walked in. Kara enjoys working with people from all walks of life who have various reasons for seeking manual therapy. Kara’s application is typically firm, slow, and detailed, and her style can be described as “ therapeutically relaxing”.

On her free time she likes to go to the gym and take long walks with friends. She also partakes in a wide spread of outdoor activities depending on the season. Winter time often means many trips to the mountains to ski, snowboard and mountain sled. Summer time brings lake days on the boat wake surfing and trail bike riding.

Growing up, Kara always knew her career would involve helping people in some way. After graduating in 2015 from The Alberta Institute of Massage, she realized quickly that being an RMT also meant that she would be a lifelong learner. The world of manual therapy is ever-evolving and therefore so is she. Kara is grateful to be a part of the Collegiate sports medicine group, where she can work collaboratively with other practitioners and continue to expand her knowledge.

Meagyn brings a passion for Central Alberta, sports & helping people. Born & raised in Sylvan Lake, Meagyn is a proud RDC alum completing a Diploma in Kinesiology in 2011 then a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in Sociology from U of C. To top it off, Meagyn has also completed a Diploma in Massage Therapy.

She has been actively involved as a trainer with many sports teams, including Peewee to Junior Football and Hockey, Junior Lacrosse, Queens Soccer, annual Cheerleading competitions, & more.

After several years as a Kinesiologist & Massage Therapist with Collegiate at the Red Deer Downtown clinic she jumped at the chance to take on the Operations Manager role when the Red Deer Campus location opened in 2018.

When not at the clinic Meagyn is home with her new addition to their family & still catching as many sporting events as she can.

Emily loves helping & teaching people. Her personal struggle with injuries in sport allow her to empathize with and understand clients. Emily knows the benefits to treating the person as a whole not just the injury.

Emily also has a passion for Pelvic Health & has been treating conditions including Male and female incontinence, prolapse, pre and post-partum, pelvic pain, PCOS, Endometriosis, Menopause symptoms and return to activity. She has completed levels 1, 2 & 3 in pelvic health training. Also pre and post partum, menopause, bowel retraining and pelvic pain courses. She wants to share her knowledge with everyone so they can be empowered to help themselves.

Born & raised in Red Deer, Emily was a Kinesiologist with Collegiate for 5 years prior to completing her Masters in Physical Therapy through the University of Alberta in 2018 & has full body certification in dry needling (FDN). She also does field work with the Blackfalds Silverbacks Lacrosse team since 2015.

When Emily isn’t busy treating clients, she’s likely out hiking, camping or backpacking in the summer, or snowboarding, Cross country skiing, and snowshoeing in the winter. The mountains are her happy place. She also loves penguins & if you catch her on a Thursday you’ll notice she’s wearing purple. Purple Thursday is a tradition she started in her first year with Collegiate & many colleagues are still following the tradition to this day.

With Lacey’s support, you will discover holistic nutrition; the interrelationships of mind, body & spirit, & the importance of addressing these interactive factors which are unique to each individual. You will receive respect for your goals, tastes, morals, social & life values.

Lacey’s Health & Wellness career began in 2017 when she completed her certification from AFLCA as a Fitness Leader & immediately began helping others through their fitness journey. She specializes in Resistance Training, Pre/Post Natal Fitness, & Group Exercise.

During this time, she battled her own health journey & grew a greater understanding that food is our medicine. Lacey knew she wanted a deeper knowledge of how to help her clients through their wellness journey & found holistic & natural nutrition becoming a Certified Nutritional Counselor, specializing in Sports Nutrition & is a member of the Canadian Association of Natural Nutritional Practitioners.

As a mom of two daughters, she understands the importance of nutrition throughout the lifecycle. She knows the challenge of feeding picky eaters, making healthy family meals & educating the importance of body awareness & autonomy regarding food.

Kavina takes pride in being able to not only treat different conditions but also teach prevention & long-term maintenance. She has exceptional active listening abilities & client-centered care to meet the individual goals of each person she treats.

Kavina has been interested in the field of Physiotherapy since she was about 15 years old & visited a Physio clinic with her mother for cervical nerve impingement. She enjoys the continuous learning that comes with the job and the ability to take the time to figure out the puzzle of different bodies. After completing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in India, Kavina worked for 2 years in a post-operative orthopedic clinic where she developed an interest in overall wellness. To explore it more she then completed a Diploma in Fitness & Health Promotion.

In her spare time, Kavina enjoys painting, hiking & fishing. Kavina recently moved to Red Deer & is looking forward to exploring the trails & lakes. Feel free to let her know what your favorite spots are.

Melanie’s passion for her career & helping her clients will be the first thing you notice when you meet her. Every day she learns & continues to develop & share her skills & knowledge with her clients, as a mentor to students & fellow therapists.

Since 1989 she has worked high-level sport including Western Hockey League, Division 1 rugby, Junior & Senior Men’s football. She has also treated many professional athletes.

With extensive study in Running Biomechanics and Gait Analysis, Injuries to the Knee and Shoulder, Melanie is a manual therapist with a Hands-on approach & loves Exercise Therapy!

Melanie instructed Kinesiology at Red Deer College (Athletic Therapy, Anatomy & Exercise Physiology) from ‘96-2010, and in 2004 completed a Masters Degree in Athletic Therapy & Exercise Physiology at the U of A Specializing in Shoulder Assessment & Rehabilitation.

Melanie opened the first Collegiate Sports Medicine in August 2003 due to a tremendous need in the region to assist not only high-level athletes but anyone wanting a collaborative, team approach to their care.
