The human body and mind is such a fascinating thing - its unique resilience and ability to rebound after insult is incredible, he can’t seem to read or discover enough about it.

This speaks to Riley’s diverse background - from managing orthopedic sports injuries in the clinic and volunteering with community sporting organizations such as high school football, wrestling, or providing medical coverage for Canadian Junior Football, to working in an ICU assisting patients in recovering from critical illness, or working the rehabilitation unit with patients who have had stroke or other neurological diseases.

Working at Collegiate Sports Medicine gives him the opportunity to provide services and live his experiences with his clients in the clinic.

Riley was born in Regina and attended school in nearby Lumsden. Growing up, he played a ton of high-level sports such as competitive soccer, football, and golf. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with Honours in 2015 and a Master of Physical Therapy degree in 2018, both at the University of Saskatchewan.

Riley has a keen interest in treating dizziness and concussions. He completed both Bernard Tonks’ Introductory and Advanced Vestibular Rehab courses, Complete Concussion Management, and Kim Barthel’s Seeing and Moving course.

Outside the clinic, he enjoys the fresh air of the mountains, being at the gym, spending time with his wife and children, and reading. He still stays active today with recreational slo-pitch, disc golf and soccer. Riley really tests his athleticism by training the Olympic lifts and enduring CrossFit.

Riley rejoined Collegiate in 2024

Corey believes that evidence-based practices should guide therapy, partnering with clients throughout their therapeutic journey. He places particular emphasis on the importance of education and exercise as cornerstones of effective treatment.

Outside of the clinic, Corey has a deep passion for strength sports like powerlifting and strongman, which sparked his interest in physiotherapy. While coaching athletes and witnessing firsthand the impact of injury on performance, he felt driven to gain the knowledge and skills to help people recover and restore their capabilities.

Corey relocated to Red Deer after completing his MSc in Physiotherapy in Edinburgh, Scotland. Before that, he led the Chronic Disease Management program at the Fort St. John Hospital.

Corey and his wife share a love for travel. Having explored Europe, South America, and Central America, they’re always seeking new adventures.
